Hello again
This week there's musical thing to play with, lots of museum-related happenings and the usual smattering of odds and ends.
First up, I quite enjoyed playing around with Puzzles! Which uses images made available via the International Image Interoperability Framework.
Here are some musical things you can look at and/or play with:
Theremin lets you play your own musical synth with delay, feedback and scuzz.
Audiograph is a "visual exploration of Pilotpriest's album, Trans".
Radiohead (@radiohead) • Instagram "We asked some people to make short vignettes interpreting sections of our new record. First: visuals and programming by Tarik Barri".
On the subject of music, this article on Toronto Symphony Orchestra getting in tune with digital has lots of interesting things to pick out.
A couple of things from Google:
Their Art Camera is a new bit of kit for taking those gigapixel images you see on the Google Cultural Institute site.
They've been working with artists on The Data Center Mural Project. For the Oklahoma one, "digital artist Jenny Odell has created collages made up of imagery collected from Google Maps. Each focuses on a different type of infrastructure found in our world today".
Rebuild Eric: The UK's First Robot by Science Museum. We can rebuild him. We have the technology. The issue is money, hence this Kickstarter
Bengler: Deep Learning at the Museum "We’re starting a new project with the Norwegian National Museum looking at how machine learning and deep neural networks can be applied to their collections".
State of the Art: Analysing where art meets technology using social network data from Nesta. "This report analyses activities at the interface of art and technology, using data from the social networking platform Meetup".
