Cultural Digital #033 - something soothing
Cultural Digital
Hello
Readers in the UK (and elsewhere) may need some soothing music and nice scenery. Handily, Sigur Rós are just back from driving around Iceland for 24 hours and livestreaming the journey. "The accompanying soundtrack is a single continuous piece created using Bronze, which is described as ‘generative music software’".

Speaking of generative music, Jukedeck "brings artificial intelligence to music composition. We’re making a system that can write original tracks according to your specifications, so that you can have customised music at the touch of a button". Not so good for musicians who churn this stuff out, but super clever all the same.
The Setup / Emma Winston. Remember The Tiny Gallery? Course you do, everyone loved that a few weeks back. Well, Emma made that and this interview covers what she does, and the hardware and software she uses. I'm a big fan of this interview series.
National Theatre to produce virtual reality shows. The first being "an immersive, 360-degree, verbatim documentary, HOME: AAMIR, which tells the story of a refugee living at the Calais migrant camp".
Interactive Plays With Seth Kriebel. Create Hub have a new podcast and this is the first episode.
The DAU Of Hip-Hop: Designing For Authenticity (A Case Study). This looks at "the unique challenges of designing a hip-hop app".
Artists Are Mapping a City Through the Data It Generates "Ground Resistance is a two-part installation exploring the concept of the “smart city” and how Milton Keynes—one of Britain’s most famous “new towns” and close neighbour to Bletchley Park—appears through the data that it generates".
Alt-AI — Artists and Machine Intelligence. This is a write-up of a conference I mentioned last week.
