#179 - Links from a simpler time
Cultural Digital
Hello
Here's the deal. I'd pulled together a bunch of links for an email, and then the proverbial hit the metaphorical and I got really busy. So I'm going to include a few links to listings and round-ups related to The Unprecedented Situation but is otherwise going to be a bit of a respite from all of that. Links from a simpler time, if you will. Let's do that.
LIKELIKE is a cross between a games arcade and an arts gallery, promoting experimental and independent game culture. For a really good intro to their work, check out Can You Be Like LikeLike?
Anyway, with all the recent talk of pivoting online, and what digital exhibition even is, check out their site right now. It's probably a bit quiet right now, but over the weekend it was a bit more lively and maybe enough of you visit at the same time…
The Covid-19 section
There's never been anywhere to keep track of the various livestreams and recordings that arts/culture organisations produce. Then there's a global pandemic and a load come out at once.
Cultural Digital: Streams is my contribution. I've also written up the what, why, and how of it.
See also Culture Fix, The Social Distancing Festival, Virtual Museums, Free Theatre Screenings, and Fun Things To Do At Home!
For cultural organisations in need of support (ie pretty much all of them) here's a list of online consultations, webinars, and physical events that have moved online. A better version is in the works.
Ok, one specific link. If you're not sure about whether a rough and ready livestreamed performance can ever be affecting, then check this episode of John Krasinski's Some Good News.
